Speed Tour Sprint Cars Celebrate Independence Day at Meridian Speedwayadmin
Celebrate your freedom to race this Sunday, July 4, with the Speed Tour Sprint Cars presented by Pit Stop USA as they go wheel-to-wheel at Meridian Speedway for the Stinker Stores Firecracker 50.
Colton Nelson looked to have a Neil Alan Fine Jewelry Diamond Cup victory well in hand in the division’s last visit to the tight confines of Meridian Speedway, but a cut tire with just a handful of laps to go forced the Meridian, Idaho racer to pit. This handed the lead and eventually the win to Meridian Speedway ace Cory Lockwood.
As the pair speed into the Stinker Stores Firecracker 50, Nelson clings to a thirteen-point lead over Lockwood. If Nelson is to bounce back after his heartbreaking loss, he’ll have more to conquer than just Lockwood and the rest of the Speed Tour Sprint Car field.
With temperatures forecasted to push the mercury well above 100 degrees, the Concrete Jungle’s super-heated asphalt figures to turn extra slick. Where contact has proven to be difficult to avoid thus far in the 2021 campaign, watch for this visit to Meridian Speedway to turn physical early.
General admission for Sunday’s Speed Tour Sprint Car showdown is just $15 for adults, $13 for seniors and military members, $7 for kids 7-11, and free for kids 6 and under. Gates open at 4:45 p.m. Sunday, with qualifying at 6 and racing at 6:30. For more information, log on to www.meridianspeedway.com. Live, flag-to-flag coverage of the Stinker Stores Firecracker 50 night festivities will be available through SpeedCast.tv.
