Double Feature: Sprint Cars and Modifieds Set for Speedy Saturday in Magic Valleyadmin
The Speed Tour rumbles into Magic Valley Speedway this Saturday, June 20, as both the Modifieds and Sprint Cars take on the Bud Light Bash. The sheer speed produced by the high-banked third-mile oval just six miles South of Twin Falls, Idaho will test even the most experienced of drivers as they rumble onto the asphalt Saturday night.
Magic Valley Speedway, with its sweeping, high-banked corners and long straights is brutally fast. Defending Speed Tour Sprint Car champion Colton Nelson holds the division’s lap record, covering the third-mile oval in 12.142 seconds. That’s an average speed of 97.84 miles per hour.
With speeds approaching triple digits decisions have to be made quickly. Nowhere is this decision-making more apparent than in lapped traffic, where closing rates can be measured in the dozens of miles per hour. Challenging as those mental calculations can be, throw in the long list of competitors looking to take you position away, and you have one of the most challenging races on the Speed Tour Sprint Car schedule.
The Speed Tour Modifieds are nearly as fast, with Trevor Cristiani’s 14.354 second lap topping the speed charts at 82.76 miles per hour. With the entire division routinely turning laps within one second of each other, real estate will be at a premium. The ability to work both the high and low lines to cut through traffic will be key to taking home the Speed Tour Modifieds’ third checkered flag of the season.
